Avoid failures adequate retentive and fracture-resistant design of bridge abutments
Kern, Matthias
An adequate retentive and fracture-resistant design of bridge abutments is the key factor for ensuring the long-term success of fixed restorations. This can also be achieved under difficult conditions by using additional retention grooves and/or surgical extension of the abutment tooth. Routine checking of the fracture-resistant design on single dies of the master model protects the patient and dentist from avoidable dental failures.
